Achira is the name of the plant Canna Indica. Starch is extracted from the roots of the plant which is used to create these baked goodies. When the ingredients are mixed with cheese and secret methods from Huila, Colombia, it results in this delicious delicacy. They have an elongated and cylindrical shape, and a characteristic golden colour. Their texture is crispy on the outside and their flavour is sweet. They are usually served with a cup of hot aguapanela, or with other foods such as cuajada, cheese, or chocolate.
